Alfred Garrison, age 85, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Garrison was born in Spring City, Tennessee on June 22, 1933 and was a life-long resident of Rhea County. He was a member of Waldens Ridge Baptist Church and was retired from La-Z-Boy in Dayton. He also enjoyed farming, hunting and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Mary Hill Garrison, three brothers, “York” Jay, Clyde and Charles Garrison, two sisters, Betty Cleo Mahan and Ruth Ann Ezell, four step-brothers, Jim, Jack, John and Buddy Holloway.
Survivors include his wife Ida GodBehere Garrison, of Dayton, two sisters, Alta Mae Tate, of Spring City and Nancy Ellen Dunn, of Spring City, two brothers, James Jackson Garrison, of Spring City and George Clifton Garrison, of Spring City and one step-sister, Barbara McClendon, of Spring City and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Levengood officiating. Interment will follow at Garrison Cemetery, Dayton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, April 1, 2019.
