Caroline Perkinson passed away on October 10, 2018, after a lengthy illness. She was 79.
Caroline (or Carolyn, as many called her) was born in Marshall, MI, on August 22, 1939. A graduate of Battle Creek High School, she married Donald Ray Perkinson on October 19, 1957. The couple raised their family in Galesburg, MI, until they moved to Don’s hometown of Dayton, TN, in the late 1970s. Caroline worked for Rick Sharpe State Farm Insurance for 30 years before retiring. Caroline was an accomplished seamstress, and created beautiful embroidery work and quilts. She enjoyed nature, taking great pleasure in the hummingbirds that visited her window feeders. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, and friend, and always put those she loved before herself.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Alice Eldred; her brother, Charles “Chuck” Eldred; and one daughter, Debra Steel. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Don Perkinson of Dayton; two daughters: Kim (Robin) Cooley of Dayton and Dona Jordan; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her best friend, Sueann Levi of Dayton.
The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Black and his staff for the care they gave to Caroline over the past four years.
There will be no public service. A private celebration of life will be held later this fall.
