Chris passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer at his home surrounded by family. He was a lifelong resident of the Brayton Mountain and Dayton areas. Chris had so many artistic and mechanical talents that he enjoyed sharing with everyone. He was always willing to help someone in need or making ironworks and woodcraft designs to share. He had a very special gift of making custom bird houses. He also enjoyed gardening and passing along his seasonal crops to friends, family and neighbors. He had a very kind and gentle heart and will be greatly missed. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Eddie and Faye Long; sisters, Sherry Burton and Audrey Burton. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Carolyn Long; step sons, Jeff Iles, Chris (Amanda) Iles and Matthew Iles; two special grandchildren, Gavin Iles and Grayson Iles; sister, Becky (Richie) Cagle; brothers, Glen Long and John Long. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law and very special friends. The family would like to send our sincere gratitude to the teams at Tennessee Oncology, Avalon Hospice and Dr. Daniel Black's office. Pallbearers will include Richie Cagle, Ronnie Scoggins, Scott McClain, Jeff Iles, Chris Iles and Matthew Iles. At his request, he will be laid to rest in Spence Cemetery at a private graveside service with family and close friends.
There will be no visitation.
