Lula Joyce Sweis

Lula Joyce (Cook) Sweis, Age 81, passed on early Thursday morning July 6, 2018 at St Mary's hospital in Knoxville, TN.

Joyce was born January 8, 1937 in Monroe county the 5th of 9 children of Thomas Ross Cook Sr and Lula Lowry Cook. Her early childhood was spent working on the family farm, she loved working with her family and shared the wisdom learned from her parents. Her first love to John Sweis was a marriage full of life and adventure for a little over 30years. Her second love and special friend Robert Chappman lasted a beautiful 17 years. She was raised Baptist and later converted to Greek Orthodox. Her Tennessee roots never left her after getting married to John Sweis and living for 2 years in Chicago, 7 years in Jordan the remainder of her life out in California. Those given the gift of her love, which are many, are going to miss her smile and the way she could make you laugh.  But mostly how she knew what you needed to hear. Joyce always made sure you knew that she loved you and that God loves you too and you were special to her.

She is preceded in death by parents Thomas Ross Cook Sr. and Lula Lowry Cook. Husb- and John Sweis and special friend, Robert Chappman. Siblings Eula Pankey, Carson Cook, Nola Cook, Quincetta Bookout, Gena Robin Reagan Cook and grandson Chris Reagan. God rest their souls.

Joyce was blessed with 4 children Gena Robin Reagan Cook, Edmond, Ezra and Alice Sweis. Grandchildren Mike and George Reagan, Brittney and Cameron Sweis, Ezra Charles and Jason Sweis and Josh Holt. Great grandchildren Madison Reagan, Caleb and Gavin Reagan, Logan Reagan, Ezara and Elija Sweis, her siblings, T.R. (Betty) Cook, Mary Rose Moore and Jewell (George) Frazier, Dayton, Tn.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM at Ogden Cemetery on Monday, July 9, 2018 with Reverend Brian Kamer officiating. 

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home.
