Nancy Brock Obituary

On March 27, 2019 Heaven gained a beautiful angel and this world lost a remarkable person.  Nancy Lee Shoemaker Brock was born on October 23, 1972 to two loving parents, Johnnie and Dan Shoemaker and her brother John Shoemaker

Nancy was an unbelievably driven lady starting as young as grade school.  She went on to become a tremendous three sport athlete at Rhea County High School starring in Basketball, Softball and Track.  From there, her drive for success, but more importantly her loving and caring heart, led her into the field of Nursing.  This profession was her calling and she excelled in it in every way.  For 25 years, Nancy practiced nursing at its highest level.  She carried out this practice at both Parkridge and Memorial Hospitals.  During this time, Nancy also accomplished the task of gaining her MBA  Degree.  Following her stint in Nursing, Nancy used this degree to explore new avenues.  She ultimately left medicine to open up a very successful Catering business which she ran for several years in and around the Chattanooga area.

In 2001, Nancy married the love of her life, Paul Brock.  They were inseparable in every way.  Three years later,   Nancy became the wonderful mother to Conleigh Mason Brock (2004) and Miller Gravitt Brock (2008).  Nancy used that same huge heart and soul to become a mother of great magnitude.  While raising Conleigh and Miller, along with running her catering business, Nancy found time to Coach High School Volleyball at GPS with her beloved husband as well as for their travel organization, Choo Choo City Volleyball.  Following that stint, Nancy went on to Coach Volleyball and Basketball at The Brainerd Baptist School.  Eventually, she was even the assistant Coach on her son Miller’s travel baseball team, as well as starting her own travel softball team, Choo Choo City Steam.  Her talents were simply unparalleled.

Nancy Brock fought her cancer as hard as she fought against or for anything in her life.  Her love, strength and resilience were a thing of legend and an example for everyone around her.  Her soul was and is unsurpassed in its beauty.  Her faith in our Lord, as well as her Family, was her driving force and it is these blessings she has passed on to all of us to carry forward.  Her light will shine forever on this earth and will be our beacon when it is time to lead us home to heaven and back to her.  She was and is our angel.

Nancy Brock leaves, on this earth her husband Paul Brock, her two children, Conleigh and Miller Brock.  Her devoted and loving parents, Johnnie and Dan Shoemaker who were her Rock and support through all of this.  Her Brother, John (Robin) Shoemaker; mother and father-in-law, Sue and Paul M. Brock Sr.   along with niece and nephew (sometimes seen as her second children) Gates  and Kennedy Shoemaker, Ethan Thomas.  She leaves behind her beloved cousin Miller Anne Earhart-Williams (Brian).  She also  leaves behind three sisters-in-law, Cam Lackey (Luke), Sharon Brock Johnson, Jarrett (Megan) Jaxon and Lisa Brock Grant (Kelley).  Nieces and Nephews Jonathan, Joseph, Josh, Jenna Johnson as well as Jarrod (Megan) and Jordan Grant.   She also leaves behind her “Second Mothers” Anne Dillard, Rita Boydston and Connie Odom.

She is preceded in death by Grandparents Nancy and Jewell Earhart, as well as Frankie Shoemaker.  As well as her beloved Uncle, Rodney Earhart.     Special thanks to the physicians and staff at Erlanger Main and East Hospital, Vanderbilt Hospital and MD Anderson. To my sister, my love for you and to you is indescribable----Your brother.
