Terry "TG" Goins Obituary

Terry Goins of Dayton, TN passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019 after a long battle with leukemia.

Terry was born September 13, 1949 to the late Claude “Dutchy” Goins and Naomi McClure Goins in Dayton. Terry was young at heart. He loved life, God, family, friends, sports and music.

Terry lived in Dayton all of his life. He was a sports writer for the Herald News for 45 years. He worked at Rhea County High School as the Attendance Director. He enjoyed all of his students and spending time with his co-workers. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church. He was a HUGE fan of all Rhea County sports and of the Tennessee Vols. He was the lead singer for the MANSHOES band for many years.

He is survived by his sisters, Claudia (Johnny) Tharpe and Janet (Bob) Arnold and brother, Tony Goins; nieces and nephews, Marcy Kay, Brent Tharpe, Chad Goins, Tiffany Ashley, Jake Goins, Brittany Pugh, Dylan Goins and several great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October 13, 2019 at New Union Baptist Church from 12:30-3:00pm. Funeral will follow at 3:00 with Dr. Danny Ruehling and Rev. Jeremy Deal officiating. There will be 11 pallbearers.

Interment will be at Rhea Memory Gardens.

In Lieu of flowers memorials can be made to New Union Baptist Church.
