Annie Rene Everett passed from this life on September 23, 2022 and into the open arms of her waiting husband and sweetheart, Wardell Everett, who had passed away from COVID-19 in September 2021. They were married 65 years and loved each other dearly.
Annie grew up in the depression era, Newton, Mississippi, the youngest of five children. In 1972, Annie and Wardell moved their family, which now consisted of 3 school-aged children, to Dayton, TN. Annie quickly made many new Tennessee friends who referred to her as Anne. Together, Annie and Wardell raised three successful children: Allen Everett, a Pediatric Cardiologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital; Wardell Jr (Buddy) Everett, supervisor at La-Z-Boy Chair Company in Dayton, Tn; and Jenny Harvey, a medical coding auditor and consultant with LBMC IN Knoxville, TN.
Annie always loved children and after moving to Dayton she worked for a number of years at the Dayton Daycare Center as a meal director and teacher until her husband, Wardell, retired from La-Z-Boy.
Annie was very active in Garrison Baptist Church and was quick to jump in to help wherever it was needed whether it was baking a casserole at the last minute, or sewing costumes for the Christmas pageant. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Rhea Springs Lodge. Annie was a role model of Southern Motherhood, Grace, Love and Hospitality. Annie is preceded in death by: Wardell Everett, 2021 as well her mother, father and all her siblings.
Annie is survived by:
Children: Allen (Anita) Everett, Wardell (Diannia) Everett Jr, and Jenny (Robert) Harvey
Grandchildren: Samuel Everett, Margaret Everett, Laura (Drew) Heald
Great grandchildren: Chloe Heald and Stella Heald.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga, the earthbound angels who offered their boundless love and support throughout this difficult time. Daphne’s kindness to both us and our Mother will never be forgotten.
