Betty Smith Obituary

Betty Lou Henley Smith, age 81, of Spring City, Tennessee, passed away on March 15, 2022, at her home. She was a longtime resident of Rhea County and a member of the Spring City United Methodist Church. She was named Teacher of the year in 1981, in Dade County, Georgia. She was a graduate of Spring City High School class of 1958 and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1967. She taught school for eighteen years.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Edward and Irene Henley; and her sister: Gay Pickett.

She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years: Jennings Smith; her son: Keith (Marcia) Reed of Spring City, Tennessee; stepson: Scott Smith; and stepdaughter; Renee Jolly; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service scheduled for a later date for family and friends.
