Carl Eugene Housley, 90, passed away on July 19, 2021 surrounded by family and friends from Rhea Medical Center where he was a volunteer for 28 years.
Gene was born on September 16, 1930 in Dayton. He graduated from Rhea Central High School. He served in the military during the Korean War. After his military service, he was employed at Dupont for 35 years. He was also a 50 year member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge 512. His loves in life were his grandchildren, construction, western movies, and making people laugh. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Mary Ellen Housley; his sisters, Louise Harris, Bonnie Ballard, Helen Housley; brother, Ray Housley; and parents, Carl and Maude (Dobbs) Housley.
He is survived by his daughters, Gena (Tim) Britt and Marti (Glenn) Miles; his grandchildren, Jacqueline Clements, William Chase Newman, Jordan Malone, Garrett Britt, Tyler Miles, and Morgan Miles; several great grandchildren; one nephew, Billy Ray Harris; nieces Debbie Iden, Diane Peaters, and Donna Rae Robbinson all of Michigan.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday July 25, 2021 in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Jump and Speaker Garret Britt officiating. Burial will follow in Rhea Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends Sunday July 25, 2021 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.
