Charles Boyd Hurst, age 85, a lifelong resident of Rhea County, passed away at his home, Sunday, March 24, 2024. He served 20 years in law enforcement. He was also a homebuilder, farmer and cattleman. He was of Baptist faith and attended Texas Grove Baptist Church in Evensville, TN.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Gaither and Gertie Hurst; sisters, Thelma Hinds, Betty Fugate and Bell Graham; brothers, Alvin Fugate and Luke Hurst.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Hurst, and three children, Charles (Terri) Hurst, Teresa Fugate, Adam (Kristy) Hurst; sister, Barbara Cross, four grandchildren; Chris (Christina) Fugate, Brett Hurst, Garrett Hurst, Heather (Ben) Cottrill, and four great-grandchildren; Bentley Scott, Brynlee Cottrill, Julianne Fugate, Leighanne Fugate, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Texas Grove Baptist Church in Evensville, TN. Brother Norman Huskey and Brother Von Dunn will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rigsby Cemetery.
Family will be receiving friends & family from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at Texas Grove Baptist Church.
