Clay Porter Obituary

Ralph Clay Porter, 85, passed away April 23, 2020 at his home in Spring City, TN.

Clay was a lifelong resident of Rhea County and a member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of Deacons and Sunday school teacher for 40 years. He served as Secretary of Rhea County Election Commission, board member of Rhea County Soil Conservation District and on the Board of Directors of Rhea County Farm Bureau. He was an avid sportsman, fisherman and hunter.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Chapman Porter and Mable Virginia Walker Porter; son, Ralph Clay Porter Jr.; sisters, Virginia Pearl Porter Johnson, Mary Frances Porter King, infant, Emma Lela Porter and brothers, Garland R. Porter, Bill Porter, John Chapman Porter and Raymond Porter.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Potter Porter of Spring City, TN and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held Monday, April 27, 2020 at Buttram Cemetery with Rev Paul Forgey and Rev James Johnson officiating.
