Dolly Mae Cochran, age 81, of Dayton, Tennessee passed away on July 4, 2023. She was born on February 9, 1942, in Bledsoe County, Tennessee to Emmit and Martha Thurman, and graduated from Bledsoe County High School in 1959. She was of the Baptist Faith and had lived in Dayton since 1960.
Dolly loved her family and friends with no limits nor boundaries and her favorite thing to do was spend time with them. She loved working in her yard and flowers. She loved to follow her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s sporting events, careers, and overall life experiences. Dolly had spent 21 years as a seamstress at Dri-Set/Signal Knitting Mill and 23 years working for La-Z-Boy before retiring. She loved to travel and had been to China, Europe to include Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia with one of her favorite things to do just being to travel with family to Gatlinburg or the beach with the family. Each and every holiday was always an event that the whole family would gather at Granny’s for celebration, and this was always something she looked forward to each holiday for the time spent with all the children and grandchildren.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband Felix Cochran, mother and father Emmit and Martha Thurman, brothers Manual, Wayne, Nathaniel, and Bobby Thurman and sisters Faye Thurman and Maxine Kerley.
Dolly is survived by her children Kathy (Kevin) Peavyhouse, and Harold “Bimbo” (Luohong) McCawley, stepdaughter Lisa (Skip) Broome, and stepson Jeff (Julie) Cochran, all of Dayton.
Brothers Ralph, Emert, and Russell Thurman and sister Florence Thurman, all of Bledsoe County, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Dolly will have visitation at Garrison Funeral Home on Friday July 7, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 P.M., and from 12:00- 2:00 on Saturday, with the funeral services being at 2:00 Saturday in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial services will follow immediately at Rhea Memory Gardens where she will be laid to rest beside her husband Felix.
Pallbearers will be: Tracy Cameron, David Thurman, Charlie Whitted, Monte Cochran, Jason Lane and Richard Williams.
