DOVIE JEAN (SHORT) HILL

Dovie Hill, 77, of Dayton, Tennessee passed away on May 28, 2023, at her home, surrounded by the laughter and love of her loved ones. She was a life-long resident of Rhea County.  Dovie was an active member of Pleasant Dale Baptist Church.  She loved the Lord with all her heart. 

She and John enjoyed 60 years of marriage and shared 26 Carnival cruises.  She will be greatly missed. 

Dovie is preceded in death by her son, Don Preston Hill; mother, Rosie Whisman Short; father, Everett Short; brothers, Arthur (Jimmy) Short, Everett Short, Jr., Harlas Short, and Ester (Cotton) Short; and sister, Arkie Huff.

She is survived by her husband, John Hill of Dayton, TN; five sisters, Francis Hill, Patsy Neal, Wilma Lawson of Dayton, TN, Irene Saylor of Holmes Mill, KY, and Janet Anderson, of Evarts, KY; brother, Dennis Short of Middlesboro, KY; three grandchildren, Kristen Hill, Ashlee Hill, and Jason Baril; two great grandchildren, Noah Clark and Axel Baril; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be her nephews, Jeff Hill, Troy Hill, Chris Neal, Bo Huff, Vernon Huff, and Andy Andrews. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 1:00 PM with Reverend George Ashburn and Reverend Jeff Shelton officiating. Visitation will be at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.  Interment to follow after the funeral service at Spring City Memorial Gardens in Spring City, TN.
