David Lester Obituary

David Lester, 59, made his heavenly transition and received his ultimate healing on Saturday, December 7th at home, surrounded by loving friends and family. A celebration of life service will be held Monday December 9th, 2019 at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home and followed by internment at Add Smith Cemetery in Spring City.

The son of a coal miner, David was born in Iaeger, West Virginia on October 24th 1960. David was raised in Warren, Michigan near Detroit where he lived until age 14. He and his family returned to Rhea County in 1975 where he graduated from Rhea County High School in 1979.

Often referred to as “Spring City’s Own John Denver”, David spent much of his life singing, playing, touring and recording with various music groups over the years, such as “Southern Comfort”, “Gospel Rangers” and “One Heart”. David loved to play music and one of his most favorite memories is teaching his sons to play various instruments. Most of all, David loved to sing Gospel and share the message of Jesus Christ through song.

David was a sharp business man and championed the entrepreneurial spirit having owned and operated countless businesses from running his parents “Big Orange Truck Stop in Evansville, to Computer Repair, Appliance Repair and various other business ventures. In 2013, David and his wife Tracie opened “Old Stage Auction Company” in Spring City that later expanded to a second location in Dayton. While David loved all of the wonderful times shared with his auction family, his most favorite time of the year was Christmas time when OSAC put on Christmas For Kids, where they donated countless toys to hundreds of children in the community. David loved his community and all of his friends he met along the way.

David is survived by his wife, Tracie, the love of his life; two children; David II, Corey (Kayce) Lester; Parents; French (Margaret) Lester; Siblings; Kenny Lester, Carol Ann Barron and six Grandchildren; Quinton, Bianca, Hurley, Roxy, Fender, and Carsen.
