Donna Carter Obituary

Donna Faye (Oliver) Carter, 54, of Dayton, TN passed away January 20th, 2020.

Donna was a long time resident of Rhea County, attended Sale Creek First Baptist Church where she sang music and was a part of the ladies ministries, went on mission trips, but most of all spread the word of Jesus Christ to any and all that she came in touch with by the way she lived her life. She loved taking care of people and doing that while showing the love of Christ in her life. In her earlier days she was the Valedictorian of her high school class at Franklin High School and the Warren County Career Center. She later went to Kettering College to get her Registered Nursing accreditation. Just last year she was honored with the distinguished alumni hall of fame award from her high school.

Donna began working at South View Hospital in Ohio before moving to Tennessee where she nursed for a short time at Rhea County Hospital. She then spent the next 17 years working at North Park Memorial Hospital as a nurse in the emergency room and recovery. While there she was awarded the nurse of the year award in the memorial system.

She was an outstanding softball player, an active runner and enjoyed bowling, playing cards roller skating and scuba diving. During her time diving with Choo-Choo Dive Club she swam with 35 foot Whale Sharks, Hammer Heads, 14 foot Tiger Sharks, and 8 foot Moray Ells. She was the feistiest and most competitive lady that ever put on a softball glove.

Donna and her husband Tony also ran the family business of Crystal Springs Skate Center and Swimming Pool for many years while opening the summer day camp to take care of young boys and girls that wanted adventure and Christian values at the same time. She loved serving the children in Rhea County and was considered by many as their second mom.

She loved her family to the fullest, traditions with the family, grandbabies, her grandma Hamby, her mothers in law Christine, Frances (Roller) Carter and especially her mom and dad.

Survived by husband Tony Carter; parents, John and Judy Oliver; children, Michael David (Emily) Napier, Jillian (Aaron) Swafford, Jesse (Jennifer) Carter; brothers, John (Brenda) Oliver, Chirs (Angie) Oliver; grandchildren, Justice Ezra Napier, Finn and Heidi Swafford, Amy Grace Carter and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
