Eddie Ray Montgomery, Sr., a lifetime resident of Rhea County, age 73, passed away March 29, 2024 in Dayton, TN. He was born September 8, 1950, in Oneida, TN, to Roscoe Lee and Edna (Acres) Montgomery. He worked as a pipefitter/welder for TVA until his retirement at age 52, and was a member of Local 43, Plumbers & Steamfitters union. He was an ordained minister in the Church of God faith and a member of the Lighthouse Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Gunter) Montgomery; parents, Roscoe and Edna Montgomery; son, Eddie Ray Montgomery, Jr; and two brothers, Doyle and Max Montgomery.
Eddie is survived by his two children, Becky (Jeff) Marshall, and Edie Alexander (David Rice) of Dayton, TN; sister, Sandy Calbaugh, of Dayton; two brothers, Tommy (Carol) Montgomery, of Dayton and Dean (Kathy) Carr, of Wildwood, GA; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 12, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the Ekklesia Bible Tabernacle - The Lighthouse Church, at 4832 Dayton Mountain Highway. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Sneed.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:00 PM prior to the service.
