Elizabeth "Anita" White

Elizabeth Anita White of Dayton passed from this life on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was born in Dayton to the late Donald Shipley and Juanita Smith.

Anita was a loving and caring woman whose greatest joy in life was her family. She dearly loved her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her family was the center of her world, and she will be remembered for the love and warmth she shared with them. Anita also enjoyed watching cartoons, especially Scooby-Doo, and found great pleasure in gardening tulips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Annette Shipley; her brothers, Stevie Smith and Ronny Shipley; and her beloved fur baby, “Bully.”

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Denita (Joe) Temple and Tamla (Barry) McHone; her grandchildren, Brandon Thurman, Brandon McHone, Briana (Jerry) Fisher, Elizabeth (Devin) Wright, Brian (Sierra) Thurman, Brandi Hickman, Katelin (Wade) Coleman, Ki (Liz) Temple, Reyna, and Ayden; her great-grandchildren, Xavier, Anabelle, Bo, Maverick, Sterling, Matthew, Waylon, Lucas, Conner, Dawson, Scarlett, and Grace; and her lifelong friend, Brenda Guffey.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Eddie Suttles officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home parlor from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, and again on Monday from 12:00 noon until the time of service.

Burial will follow in Shipley May Cemetery in Sale Creek, Tennessee.
