George Howard Dinsmore, Jr., born to George and Margaret Dinsmore on May 22, 1933, in Bronx, New York, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2021, near his lakeside home in Tennessee.
At the age of 12, George was selected to be a part of the Future Engineers of America program. He received a United States government scholarship to attend any Ivy League School and became a graduate of Princeton University with honors, earning a PhD in Mathematics. He also earned a Juris Doctorate with an Honorary Torts Award from Loyola Law School. George was employed by TRW Space Systems for 27 years, carrying out various classified government contracts, including as a Senior Engineer for the 1969 Apollo Space Program. He was also on the TRW honor roll as an investigator in 1987 and 1988. He was fluent in seven languages – English, German, Italian, French, Russian, Latin, and Spanish. He wrote a 2,000+ page autobiography, and was a certified Ballroom Dancing Instructor. His hobbies included practicing law, building computers, art, visiting museums, listening to classical music, playing the piano, reading, writing, world travel, handball, and swimming. He lived an incredibly accomplished life and had a family that was very proud of him.
George was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorinda Dinsmore Townley; and an infant daughter, Mary Eileen.
He is survived by his wife Ruth (Walker) Dinsmore; eleven children, Margaret Mary, George, Kevin, Anne, John, Jim, Tom, Robert, Mary, Mark, and Paul; sixteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his former spouse and mother of his children, Margarita Dinsmore.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at St. Bridget Catholic Church with Father Jim Vick officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Dayton, TN.
