Gordon Ray Auther

Mr. Gordon Ray Auther, 65, of Dayton passed away at Rhea Medical Center January 29, 2023. A lifelong resident of Dayton, Gordon was a kind and generous man who loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and especially swimming. He will always be remembered as someone who would give you the shirt off his back and as someone who lived his life the he wanted.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Clara Auther; brothers, Charles Mac, Sherman “June Bug” Auther, Jr., Robert Eugene, and Teddy Roosevelt Auther; and one sister, Mary Jane Douglas.

Mr. Auther is survived by his daughters, Amber Clark and Stephanie Lynn Auther; brother, Jimmy Auther and his wife Jill; sister, Elizabeth Cranmore; three grandchildren, Gavin, Nevaeh, and Kash Clark along with five nephews and three nieces.

Funeral service will be held at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at 2PM with the Rev. Robert Filyaw and Bro. George Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Spence Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11AM until service time at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home.
