Herbert Thomas Mitts passed away on August 23, 2018 at the Spring City Health Care and Rehab in Spring City, Tennessee. He was a longtime resident of Rhea County and was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from the Baylor School after many years. He loved gospel music, Nascar, the Tennessee Vols and the mountains.
Herbert is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hattie Morgan Mitts, his wife, Betsy Mitts, three sisters; Margaret Rice, Marion Simms and Loretta Bell Louallen; one brother, Harold Mitts.
Surviving are a very special friend, Deb Eddington and her family of Spring City, TN, three sisters; Louise Webb of Dayton, Ina (Dorman) Roach of Chattanooga, TN, and Carolyn Carney (David) Durham of Dayton; Sister-in-Law, Shirley Mitts of Dayton, Brother-in-Law, Tom Louallen of Graysville and several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, August 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will be in the Rigsby Cemetery on Dayton Mountain. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
