JAMES EDWARD SCROGGINS

James Edward Scroggins, 81, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2023. He was born July 9, 1942, in Decatur, Tennessee.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army.  J.E. loved watching professional wrestling and Gunsmoke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lucy (Pelfrey) Scroggins; his brothers, Olin and Everett Scroggins; and son, Benjamin (Buddy) Stansberry.

J.E. is survived by his “Better Half” of 26 years, Melissa Strohm; his children, Deborah Scroggins, John Coffman, Rick Shroll, Billy Shroll, Emily Gerber, Jamey Simmons, Tim Scroggins, Ray Page, Melinda Scroggins, Jeremy Scroggins, and Rebecca Tumlin; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. 

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, October 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Smyrna Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Mike Breeden officiating.  Family will receive friends at the cemetery from 10:00 AM until service time.
