JOHN THOMAS MIZE

John Thomas “Tommy” Mize, age 72, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 1st 2024.

Tommy was a hardworking man dedicated to his craft of Carpentry.  Over the years he worked on many homes and other projects with his business partner and friend Donnie Hutchins. He truly enjoyed being active in the Amateur Radio Club as a HAM radio operator over the last 30+ years. He was also a lifelong Tennessee Volunteers fan through the good and the bad. Most of all he loved his family unconditionally and will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Mize; mother, Mittie (Powell) Mize; loving wife and best friend of 43 years, Libby Mize; and son, Jeremy Mize.

Left to cherish his memory are brothers, Kern (Mary) Mize (Dayton, OH) and Cecil (Ramona) Mize (Rossville, GA); sister, Pat Mize; sons, Franklin Booth and Tim Mize (Rachel McBay) (Spring City, TN); daughters, Melanie Rievley Leffew (Randy), and Sunny (Michael) Angel (Pikeville,TN); grandchildren, Bradley Booth, Taylor (Dakota) Dumke, Shaun (Kelli) Rievley, Brandon (Candice) Rievley, Dylan Angel (Cathryn) (Rockland, MA), Briar Mize (Union City, TN), Jaelyn and Caleb Mize (Oneida,TN), Grace Vaughn and Kaylee Sarah McBay (Spring City,TN); great grandchildren, Jordan Booth, Skylar and Ansley Rievley, Case and Magnolia Dumke, and Micah Hancock (Spring City, TN).

He was of Christian faith and attended Word of Truth Church in Dayton where they made him feel like family.

A Celebration of Life service for Tommy Mize will be held on Saturday, January 6th at the Word of Truth Church in Dayton. Family will receive visitors from 10am-11am EST. with service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Word of Truth Church in memory of Tommy.
