JOYCE RUTH (`TAYLOR) MASSEY

Joyce Ruth Massey, 74, passed away at the Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, on April 8, 2023.  She lived in Rhea County for almost all of her life.

Joyce was a loving mother and grandmother.  She was known for her wonderful sense of humor.  She will be greatly missed.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Adith Taylor; husband, Tim Massey; two daughters, Renee and Jennifer Toomey; and two brothers, Jackie and Paul Taylor.    

She is survived by two children, Gary (Stephanie) Toomey and Rebecca (William) Walker; three sisters, Frances Smith, Kay Parson, and Charlene (Tracy) Denton; two brothers, Jerry and Rick Taylor; seven grandchildren, Jimmy (Matthew) Hall Hamby, Jon Hall, Ariel (David) Long, Logan Toomey, Cora Chester, Cierra Toomey, and (Sam) Samuel Burdette; one great granddaughter, Addilynn Toomey; and several nieces and nephews.  

A funeral service will be held at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 3:00 PM with Reverend Jerry Vanwinkle officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Interment will follow at Brown Cemetery.
