James Kenneth Smith

    James K. Smith, age 66 went home to be with his Lord on Nov. 25, 2020, at Rhea Medical Center. He was from the Bakewell community, but had lived in Dayton the past 8 yrs.. He was a member of Pleasant Hill AME Zion church. He was preceded by his father Arnold Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Lorell Hargrove Smith Dayton, Tn. Two daughters Kimshe (Terry) Thomas, Dayton, Tn., Kenya (Andre) Jenkins Chattanooga, Tn., mother Virginia Johnson Bakewell, Tn. Five sisters Karen (Malicah) Nimmons Hixson, Tn. Marie Suttles  Atlanta, Ga., Cora Lansing  Knoxville, Tn. Lisa Johnson, and Alma Hickey, brother Wayne (Janice) Simmons all of Bakewell, Tn. 3 grandchildren Jasiara Green, Raven Humphrey, and Jalen Johnson, one great grandchild Razirah Green, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday December 1, 2020  at 2:00pm in the chapel of Coulter Garrison funeral home with Rev. James T. Willis officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2020 at Chattanooga National cemetery at 1: 30pm. with military honors.
