James (Tom) Bishop Obituary

James Thomas (Tom) Bishop of Dayton passed away on June 15, 2021 at Erlanger Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Rhea County and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed working on cars, mowing grass, and was an excellent cook. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing. He worked at Shaw Industry for many years and was a veteran of the US Navy.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents Robert L. Bishop and Ova Lee (Matthews) Bishop.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bishop; children, James Bishop, Jr. of California, Robert N. Bishop of California, and Tauni Muse of Dalton, GA; stepsons Tracy Wilkey and Terry Wilkey of Dayton; sisters, Billie Jo, Bobbie and Jackie; 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The service will be Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 1:00PM in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald. Interment will follow at Spring City Memorial Gardens.

Family will receive friends Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 10:00AM – 1:00PM.
