Johnathan Wayne Cottrill, age 32, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at Rhea Medical Center. He was born on July 20, 1992, in Rockford, Illinois, to John and Jessica Hall.
Johnathan was a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend to many. He was a bright, joyful soul who brought light into every room he entered. A proud graduate of Soddy Daisy High School, he found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, collecting cans, arrowhead hunting, and spending time with his loved ones. But above all, he cherished every moment spent with his wife and daughter, who was the light of his life.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Billy Ray and Violet Marie Hall; his step-maternal grandfather, Bill Groen; and his sister-in-law, Melody Hall.
Survivors include his wife, Ashton Cottrill, and daughter, Rylynn; parents, John and Jessica Hall; brothers, Dillan Cottrill, Ben Cottrill, and Steven Cottrill; sisters, Jacqualin Cottrill, Mary Hall, Lisanna Cottrill, and Abbygale Kattenbrun; grandparents, William and Linda Cottrill; grandmother, Kathy Graybeal; great-grandmother, Mary Graybeal; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in the Chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home, with Bro. Jerry Justice officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
In celebration of Johnathan’s vibrant spirit and the beautiful life he lived, the family kindly asks guests to wear bright, bold colors—or his favorite, Tennessee Volunteer orange
