KENNETH "KENNY" LEE RHODES

September 26, 1934 ~ September 12, 2023 (age 88) 88 Years Old

Obituary

Kenneth (Kenny) Rhodes went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.  He was 88 years old.  Kenny was a member of Graysville Baptist Church and served our country in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard.  He lived in Rhea County nearly all of his life.

Kenny is survived by Rowena Rhodes, his wife and best friend of 44 years.  He is also survived by his children, Jennifer Goforth, Tony, and Kenny; stepsons, Steve (Tammy) Lawson, Michael (Lauren) Lawson, and Mark (Sara) Lawson; and niece Rhonda Yeargan.  He was so dearly loved by his family.

Kenny was blessed by his grandchildren, Stephanie DeCarlo, Chris Goforth, Dylan Evans, Chelsea Ray, Macye and Makade Lawson, Reid Lawson, and eight great grandchildren.  He took great joy in his family and took every opportunity to tell them how much he loved them.

Kenny was born on September 26, 1934, to Juanita and Boyd (BC) Rhodes.  His mom and dad preceded him in death; along with his only sister, Kay Ruth Smith; son, Christopher Rhodes; and great grandson, Maddox DeCarlo.

Kenny’s career included working for Levi Strauss, Lockheed Martin, and the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago.  He retired from Robinson Management Company after 17 years, many of those he spent managing plants in Pikeville, Lusk, and Gruetli-Laager at one time.  His favorite hobby was drag racing, and it’s where he made many dear friends including Mike Walters, Ronnie and Tommy Clayton, Bills Simms, and others.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 15, 2023, from 12-4 PM at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home in Dayton.  The funeral service will be held in the chapel immediately following visitation at 4:00 PM.  Dr. Mike Breeden of Garrison Baptist Church will officiate, and interment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery.  Pallbearers will include his sons and nephews.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kenny’s life.
