Kathleen Matherley 90, passed away on November 24, 2020.
She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and demonstrated that through a life of faithfulness to Him. She was a lifelong member of Kelly Grove Baptist Church, and in recent years attended Graysville Church of God with her son Dean and his family. The Bible presents a challenge to mother’s in 1 Timothy 5:14, “I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.” This was her life goal, and she was able to achieve it with excellence.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Barnett and Gladys Brady; husband, Mendel Matherley, sisters, Lucy Barley, Helen McMillan, and Barbara Pope; son-in-law, Johnny Sunderland.
Survivors are her son, Dean (Teresa), daughter, Susan (Johnny) Sunderland; grandchildren, Tedra (Johnny) DeAlba, Caleb (Rachel) Matherley, Cody (Shay) Sunderland; great grandchildren, Micah and Aaron DeAlba, Cambry and Noah Matherley, and Mason and Ava Sunderland.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 12:00 to 2:00pm at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home on Friday, November 27, 2020.
Services will be held in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday with Rev. Mack Louallen presiding. Burial will follow at Spence Cemetery in Dayton.
