Lawrence Carl Phillips, Jr., 73, a long-time resident of Rhea County, passed away at his home in Dayton, TN, on April 24, 2023. He was a past President of Dayton Lions Club, a member of the Dayton American Legion Post 100, and a member of the NALC or National Association of Letter Carriers.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his son, Jamison Ryan Phillips; parents, Lawrence and Reba Phillips; three sisters, Wilma Jean Iles, Sheila Ripper, and Dianna Hughes; and an infant sister, Sharon Kay Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine S. Phillips of Dayton, TN; two sons, Lawrence “Chip” Carl (Tara) Phillips III of Chattanooga, TN, and Michael (Vy) Phillips of Pasadena, CA; three sisters, Carol (Clarence) Hughes, Linda (Malcolm) Goins, and Phyllis (Jimmy) Trantham, all of Dayton, TN; two grandchildren, Claudia Jane and Lawrence “Quade” Carl Phillips IV; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home with Brother Terry Bolton officiating on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time. A reception is planned at Dayton Coffee Shop at 3:00 PM for family and close friends.
