Lena Mae Owings, 83, of Dayton, TN, passed away on Thursday June 30, 2022 after lengthy illnesses. Surrounded by her loving family, she peacefully departed this life to life eternal in Christ.
Lena was born on August 17, 1938 to Chat and Elvira Walker in the Wolf Creek Community. After Lena graduated from Spring City High School in 1956 she met the love of her life Larry Owings, with whom she spent 63 wonderful years.
Larry’s work took them on an amazing adventure that carried them through many states over the years. Lena and Larry had four children: Mark, Mike, Laura, and Lisa. Although raising her and Larry’s four children was a great blessing, having grandchildren and great-grandchildren who affectionately knew her as their Maw, proved to be a double blessing. Maw’s loving support in all their activities was a tremendous influence and will always be remembered by each one of them.
After Lena and Larry’s retirement, they both enjoyed bowling and all the fellowship with her many friends at Crystal Lanes.
Lena and Larry attended New Union Baptist Church and enjoyed being members of Joe Purser's Sunday School class.
Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Chat and Elvira Walker, son: Mark Owings, and siblings: Arnold Walker, Alfred Walker, and Ann Thurman.
Lena is survived by her husband: Larry Owings, her children: Mike Owings, Laura (Rusty) Revis, and Lisa (Dirk) Goins, all of Dayton, TN. sisters: Bobbie (Denny) Patterson and Kathy Mason of Dayton, TN. brother: Billy Ray Walker of Soddy Daisy, TN., Grandchildren: Casey Owings, Cameron Goins, Kevin Revis, Kenzie Goins, Jacob Revis, Krischan Goins, and Caylan Buckner.
