Linda "Gail" Travis Obituary

Linda Gail Travis, born on March 26, 1944, of Dayton, TN passed away the morning of October 10, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving husband of 58 years and 3 sons.

Gail. Honey. Mom. Mamaw. A woman known by many different names, but loves everyone who calls her each one the same. She is the happiest when her home is filled with those she loves. Nurturing, gentle, and overflowing with joy every time her front door opens to welcome children of every generation. The perfecter of Apricot Nectar cake, a diligent former employee of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and La-Z-Boy, weekly rook player with sisters, and the most wonderful hug to ever find yourself wrapped in. A popular saying, “The more the merrier” rings through her life, determined to fill it with children, grandchildren, and eventually great grandchildren. And every single one thinks that there is no one in the world that loves them like their Mamaw. Everyone to spend even a moment with her will always call her presence home.

Gail was a longtime resident of Rhea County and member of Sale Creek First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by parents, Ross and Iva Hill; brothers, Doyle, Caleb (Shep), and Erskin Hill; sisters, Nora Cochran, Lucille Cochran, Fay Fritts, Brenda Fisher, and Julie Norris. She is survived by husband, Wallace Lee Travis Jr.; sons, Greg, Ross, and Jeff Travis; daughter-in-laws, Sherree, Alice, and Melanie Travis; sister, Wanda Scott; grandchildren, Magan, Blake, Seth, Allie, Angelica, Mallory, Ashley, and Ryann; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Connor, Kyler, Kymber, and Reagan.
