Lonnie Joby Davis, age 86, passed away with his family at his side on March 18, 2025. Born on June 13, 1938, in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, he was the son of Lawrence and Jane Davis. Lonnie was a lifelong resident of the area and a devoted member of Green Pond Baptist Church.
Lonnie retired from Combustion Engineering after many years of dedicated service. He was known to all who knew him as a man of deep faith, integrity, and kindness. A good Christian, he lived by the values of honesty and respect, always treating others with kindness and fairness. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, including mowing his lawn, fishing, and, most of all, spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Pete Davis, and his sisters: Barbara Newman, Wanda Cliff, Rita Shipley, and Mildred May.
Lonnie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Bettie Floyd Davis; his daughter, Terry Scott; two grandchildren: Chad Burton and Jade McCarthy; and three great-grandchildren: Harper Burton, Cora Burton, and Marlowe McCarthy.
A graveside service to celebrate Lonnie’s life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Spence Cemetery, with Pastor Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. The family would like to express their gratitude to all who have supported them during this time. Coulter Garrison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
