MARTHA WESTELL (REEL) HUGHES

Martha Hughes, age 81, of Concord, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.  She is a member of the Straightway Holiness Church in Soddy- Daisy, TN.

She was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and lived there until she married and moved to Michigan where she started a family.  Later in life, she moved back to South Pittsburg, TN until 2017 when she moved to North Carolina to be near her children and grandchildren.

Martha was a devout Christian who enjoyed reading her bible and watching online church sermons.  She loved her family and played a substantial role in the upbringing of many of her grandchildren.  She was a collector of things and enjoyed browsing thrift stores to find her treasures to add to her collection.  She was loved by many and made an impact on many people's lives.

She is preceded in death by her husband Homer Hughes; sister, Charlotte; brother, Randall; and parents, Arthur and Della.

Martha is survived by her sisters, Phyllis and Barbara; children, Donna Widner and David Hughes; Grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Kevin, Tammy, Johnny, Thomas and Laura and husband Donte; eight great Grandchildren; and one great great Grandchild

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Pastor Troy Simmons officiating.  The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM until the time of the service.  Interment will follow at Hughes Cemetery.
