Mary Louise Morgan Sandell, affectionately known throughout her life as "Pidge," passed away peacefully at her home on July 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Pidge was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great- grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family touched the lives of all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a family who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alberta Morgan; her son, William "Bill" Sandell; her grandson, TJ Van Garren; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-one years, James Sandell, Sr.; her daughters, Mildred (Scott) McMillan, Rosetta (Latimer Allgood) Hyatte, and Anna (Ronnie) Harmon, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Sandell; her son, James (Lori) Sandell, Jr.; her brother, Brushy (Catherine) Morgan; her sisters, Anna, Becky (Paul), Faye, and Vickie; her grandchildren, Tiffany Sandell, Chris Sandell, Scottie and Megan McMillan, Angela Adams, Brandy Garren, Jonathan and Wesley King, Jessie Sandell, Mary Lou Stephens, and Skylar Garren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her very special caregiver, Harmoni "Lil Mary" Dennison, whose loving care and companionship meant so much to Pidge and her family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in the chapel of Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert Filyaw officiating. Interment will follow at Spivey Cemetery. Acting pallbearers are Scott McMillon, Chris Sandell, Skylar Garren, Latimer Allgood, Jonathan King, and Wesley King.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home.
