Margaret ‘JoAnn’ Coulter passed away on June 28, 2020 in Crystal City, Missouri. She was 91 years old.
JoAnn was born in Lupton City. TN. and later moved to the family farm in Graysville, TN. She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School in 1947 and the University of Chattanooga in 1951. An excellent athlete, JoAnn taught and coached women’s basketball at both Hixson High School and Ooltewah High School, where she took her team to the State Tournament. She later worked for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools and taught on military bases in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Okinawa, Japan, Goosebay, Labador, and Feltwell, England. She loved to travel and was able to visit numerous countries around the world. She was an avid photographer, as well as an accomplished artist and painter. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, James Bruce and Maggie Brewer Coulter, sister Katherine Coulter Moore, brothers Brewer, Johnson, Frank and Walter Coulter. She is survived by brother, James A Coulter of Hixson, special friend Barbara Hill of Festus, MO, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for family members will be held at Abel Cemetery in Dayton, TN at a later date.
