OLA FAY (THURMAN) LEMONS

Ola Fay Thurman Lemons, 86, of the Wolf Creek Community of Spring City, died Monday, April 3, 2023, at Spring City Care and Rehabilitation Center in Spring City, Tennessee.  

Fay was a lifetime resident of Rhea County, and a member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church for most of her life.  She was also a member of the Spring City American Legion Auxiliary Unit #203 for many years.  She enjoyed her flowers, fishing, and playing Bingo, but her favorite pastime was playing Bunco with her group of good friends every other Monday night for too many years to count.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Evander and Daisy Thurman; her husband of 59 years, Preston Lemons; her daughter, Peggy Lemons Suttles; her granddaughter, Shelley Altum; four (4) brothers, William Eugene Collier, Gordon Thurman, Elmer Thurman, and Ralph Thurman; three (3) sisters, Ella Woods, Dorothy Bostic, and Emaline Brown; Fay was the last of what we affectionately referred to as “the Golden Girls”. 

She is survived by her son, Richard Lemons (Sheila); three (3) grandsons, Heath Suttles (Sabrina), Paul Altum (Amy), and David Lemons (Samantha); a granddaughter, Tracy Day (Shane); and numerous great-grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter.

Services will be provided by Coulter Garrison Funeral Home of Dayton, Tennessee.  Services will be on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel.  Reverend Paul Forgey of Wolf Creek Baptist Church will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until the time of service.  Interment will be at Concord Cemetery.
