Richie Woody Obituary

Richie Clell Woody, 73, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at his home in Sale Creek, TN.

Born in Dayton, Tennessee, he graduated Rhea Central High School in 1966 and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He was a decorated veteran who fought in three campaigns in Vietnam with the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). Awards include C.I.B., Bronze Star, Air Medal, and Army Commendation with V-Device. He also served as a Mobile Radar Section Commander for the 2nd Armored Division (Hell on Wheels). An avid outdoorsman, he greatly enjoyed hunting and trout fishing.

Richie is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Woody, and their children, Jennifer (Glenn) Ashley, Leslie (Guy) Hively, Jason Woody, and Laura Woody; his brother Roger Woody and sister Nellie Lewis. He had 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Ollie Woody, and brother Raymond Woody.

A private memorial service will be held Friday, May 8, 2020 at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home Chapel.
