Robert Samuel Taylor, age 89 of Dayton, TN passed away March, 30th 2021 at Memorial Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Rhea County and served in the Army from June 1949 to November 1952. He loved gun trading, spending time with family, working outdoors, specifically working heavy construction and farming.
He is preceded in death by his parents, CZ & Vola Taylor; son, Bobby Taylor; son-in-law, Bill Matherly; siblings, Edna Headlee, Lefa Weller, Etta Marler, Ralp Taylor, Zella Olinger, Seburn Taylor, Harvey Taylor, Sue Capps, Bernice Taylor, Silas Taylor, Willard Taylor, Wendell Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of sixty six years, Leona Taylor; children, Carmella (Jim) Hammond, Velma Matherly, Kim (Ricky) Burnette, Rhonda Taylor; daughter-in-law Virginia Taylor; sister, Betty Harris; grandchildren, Jeremy (Sheila) Taylor, Zach (Kristina) McCool, Amanda (Jonathan) Kyle, Mindy Stephens, Joshua (April) Burnette, Alecia (Russ) Gross, Ryan (Jasmin) Hadley, Jennifer (Mike) Wilcox, Mark (Veronica) Hammond; 33 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and very special friends Jim, Becky, and Jamie Eller.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the offices and staff of Dr. Alan Crews, Dr. Chirag Patel, Dr. Eason, Dr. Polland and the staff of Rhea Medical Center ER; staff on 5-south at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga and Hospice of Chattanooga.
Funeral service will be held Saturday April 3rd, 2021 at 12:00PM in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Jonathan Kyle officiating.
Family will receive friends Saturday April 3rd, 2021 from 10:00AM-12:00PM at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home.
Interment to follow after service at Rigsby Cemetery.
