Sidney Barnes Obituary

Sidney James Barnes, 89, passed away January 7, 2021 at his home in Dayton, TN.

Sidney was a lifelong resident of Rhea County and a member of Dayton Cornerstone Church of God. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a past Master of Dayton Masonic Lodge. He worked as a south central switchman for South Central Bell for 33 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Alma Daniel Barnes, parents Joseph and Bertie Barnes; daughter, Rhonda Caroll Barnes and brothers, Archie, Albert and Alvin Barnes.

He is survived by his children, Donna (Bruce) Bennett and Gilbert Daniel Barnes; grandchildren, Jeremiah Perry, Timothy Perry, Madison Barnes, Garrett Barnes and great grandchildren, Precious Perry, Ellie Burgos, Randall Woodward.

Graveside service will be held, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 1:00pm at Spivey Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.
