THERESA RENEE (CARTER) NAIL

Theresa Kyle Carter Nail was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on August 16, 2023, at 60 years of age. She was born on December 29, 1962, and raised in Red Bank Tennessee. Theresa graduated from the Chattanooga School of Nursing with her LPN license in 1983 and spent most of her Nursing career at Erlanger Hospital, here in downtown Chattanooga, where she made some of her dearest and closest friends. While there, she worked in a variety of posts from the floors to specialized care units and outpatient clinics. Theresa also held positions at the Hamilton County Jail, assisted nursing with Orange Grove Center, the beloved resident nurse at Camp Double G., home health care, and she was passionate about working with the American Heart Association as a certified CPR instructor. She was a smart, intuitive, upbeat, and compassionate nurse who loved her patients and took pride in her efforts.

Theresa adored animals and over the years, fostered with as much love and care as she could for each one that found their way into her life. There was never a dog or friendly cat that she didn’t immediately fall in love with. She was an eager traveler and had a knack for finding the greatest places that you’d never think of. While her favorite venues were anywhere near the ocean, she didn’t care where it was, as long as there were loved ones to share it with. A true Chattanoogan, she would eagerly anticipate the Riverbend Music Festival every year and the memories of races and festivals past are some of the happiest that her family share with her today. She enjoyed baseball and loved to go to the ballparks for the spectacle. Whether on the television or in the stands, Theresa was a fan! Ultimately, Theresa Renee was a strong-willed woman, who was always on the lookout for a little adventure around every corner. Her zest for even the smallest things was infectious.

Theresa is Survived by her husband Harold Nail, her daughter, Alayna Kyle, her son, David Carter (Victoria/ granddaughter, Finnegan), her blended family, Justin Schwartz (April Schwartz, Katelyn, and Zoey), Sarah Schwartz (Asher), Emily Schwartz-Thompson, (Christina/ River Thompson), as well as numerous extended family and friends, near and far. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Foster Kyle, mother, Joan Fincher Kyle, and Sister Karen Kyle Carter.

A small gathering of close family will be held and in lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association or your local animal shelter.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Coulter Garrison Funeral Home from 11:00 AM  until 1:00 PM.
