Tony Goins

Harold “Tony” Goins, of Dayton, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2026, after a long battle with illness. Tony was born July 6, 1958, in Dayton to the late Claude “Dutchy” Goins and Naomi McClure Goins. A lifelong resident of Dayton, Tony worked at La-Z-Boy for 18 years. He loved taking a stroll through Harbor Freight, always on the lookout for a new tool or something to tinker with.

On Saturdays in the fall, you could count on finding Tony in his favorite chair cheering on the Tennessee Vols. And if there was ever proof that he knew how to love unconditionally, it was his unwavering devotion to the Dallas Cowboys.
Above all, Tony was a proud father who took great pride in his sons, Chad, Jake, and Dylan. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved sizing them up to see how much they had grown and always made a point to find his own way to connect with each of them during their visits.
In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Goins, and brother-in-law, Johnny Tharpe.
Tony is survived by his sons, Chad Goins of Dayton, Jake (Amber) Goins of Dayton, and Dylan (Kristen) Goins of Cleveland; his grandchildren, Ty, Wyatt, Beckett, Rylie, Jacob, and Roxanne; his sisters, Claudia Tharpe and Janet (Bob) Arnold; his nieces and nephews, Marcy (Sammy) Kay, Brent (Ashley) Tharpe, Tiffany (Mark) Ashley, and Brittany (Chris) Pugh; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. Tony is also survived by his special friend, Sheila Prater.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 31, at Coulter-Garrison Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Minister Mark Hickman officiating.

Tony’s grandsons, Ty, Beckett, Rylie, and Jacob, along with his nephews, Brent and Chris, will serve as pallbearers.
Interment will follow the service at Rhea Memory Gardens.

In honor of Tony and his love for the Tennessee Vols, the family invites those who feel inclined to wear orange or Smokey gray as they gather to celebrate his life.
