WALTER LEROY HALITON

Walter Leroy Haliton, 69, passed away at home on Monday, September 25, 2023.

He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and was a graduate of Sale Creek High School class of 1972, where he played basketball. Walt was a life-long resident of the Soddy-Daisy area and was of the Baptist faith.

Walt loved his country and proudly served in the US Army where he did two tours of duty in Germany.  He enjoyed working on cars, fishing, and loved going to the casino.  Walt also loved to cook and grill.  His favorite show to watch was “In the Heat of the Night”. 

Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Alberta Stinson Haliton.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Rankin Haliton; three children, Walter Haliton-Wilkerson, Keith (Jamie) Haliton-Wilkerson, and Karmesha Sligh; one sister, Rose (Wayman) Arnwine; one brother, Alvin Neal Haliton; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and two aunts, Irane Jordan and Francis Mason. 

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Minister Helen Harberson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time.  Interment will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Military Honors.
