Warren Glinn Harding DaVault, 24, of Dayton, TN died on the battle field of Hurtgen Forest, Germany on November 20, 1944. He was a student and athlete at Rhea Central High School and rather than finishing his senior year, and graduating with his class, he enlisted in the Army. He served honorably for two years prior to his death. After WWII ended, he was buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, in Belgium, as an unidentified soldier. Earlier this year, his remains were identified through DNA analysis and have now been repatriated to his hometown of Dayton, TN for burial.
Pfc. Davault was the son of Will W. DaVault and Philadelphia “Delphia” (Knight) DaVault. He had six brothers – Gaston, Henry Clay, Homer, Cleo, Emmett, and Perry; and five sisters – Beatrice, Flossie, Kate, Jaunita (Dago), and Zilla.
Survivors include his nephews Bill DaVault and Ronnie DaVault, and his niece, Marietta Harris; several great nephews, nieces, and cousins,
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 14, 2021 between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Dayton.
There will be a service with full military honors on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Dayton with Revs. Clyde Fitzgerald and Milton Knox officiating. Interment will follow at Spence Cemetery.
