William Thomas Ward passed away August 19, 2020 at his home in Dayton, TN.
Bill was a longtime resident of Rhea County and a member of Salem Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was born September 23, 1935 to the late Fred and Bess Stewart Ward.
Originally from Pennington Gap, VA, Bill moved to Dayton in 1950 and graduated from Rhea Central High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from June 1954 to December 1957. He moved to Pasadena, CA in 1958 and returned to Dayton in March of 1972. He was a retired farmer.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Geraldine and Flora.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Ziegler Ward of Dayton, TN; sisters, Louise Patton of Chattanooga, TN, Jaunita Henson of Indianapolis, IN, Dorthy (Dottie) Samples of Bellville, TX; brother, Jim Ward of Grisham, OR and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be Saturday, August 22 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Walls officiating.
Family will receive friends Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 11:00am-1:00 pm.
Burial will be in Beta Cemetery, Big Springs (Decatur) TN in Meigs County.
