Zelphia Lester Obituary

Today as we honor, celebrate and remember Zelphia Mae Lester, 77 we would like to thank God for winning her life's victory.  She was born to th e late Garland Oliver Homes and the late Dorothy Jean Willard Holmes in Chaleston, WV on the navy base.  She passed away at her residence surrounded by all of her loved ones on July 16, 2021.

She loved and enjoyed traveling and cruise ships; she visited so many different places in Mexico and the Bahamas.  She loved to shop and was always thinking of others when she was shopping, unless it was for her glamorous and newest fashion designs which she had to have matching jewelry, purse and shoes.  She never missed an opportunity to send someone a card even if she had to mark it out and re-write in her own words herself.  She loved and took care of her family and we all loved her sassy, funny, and the queen of being blunt, which meant telling you her opinion on everything regardless if you asked her or not.

Zelphia was proceeded in death by her parents, her great grandson O' Rein, and her only sister, JoAnn O'Neal.  These two had a very special one of a kind bond.  JoAnn always called her Butchie, we are not sure where or how they came about but her closest friends called her that too.  We are glad to know that she is reunited with her sister in heaven and I am sure they are laughing and taking lots of pictures for this special occasion.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William Chester Lester of Dayton, daughter; Teresa Congioloso, of Dayton, son; Jeff Gordon of Dayton, son; Rick Gordon of Dayton, daughter; Darlene Miller of Jacksboro TN and Scotty Lester of King, NC, grandchildren; Amanda Wilkerson, Jeffery Gordon, Ashley Lawson, Elizabeth Gordon, Will Gordon, Little Scottie Lester, Shawn Lester, Shannon Maurtin, and Sarah Lester, great grandchildren; Jade, Mehki, Aiden, Aubrey, Skyler, Conner, Isis, Iliana, Harmoni, Adrianna, Zaiden, Zalileigh, Isabel, Isaiah, Gabriella, Gabriel, Elijah, Dalton, Jackson and Adalynn.

We would like to show great gratitude to her lifelong best friends, Judy, Brenda and Gina.

If anyone knew her they would know that she was never afraid to speak her mind, she loved her soap operas.  You better not touch or break her what knots.  Shopping was her favorite thing to do, she was a one of a kind soul that everyone loved so very much and we  will miss her everyday.  But we are grateful to know she is happy and dancing in heaven.

The family would also like to show extra appreciation to Angie Willin who was her caregiver.  She and Angie had a strong, special bond and we couldn't ask for a more special person to take care of and love our sassy queen.

There will be a private family service at Burchard Cemetery on Sunday July 18, 2021 at 3:00PM.
